What is Greater Works?
Fellowship Baptist Church is fulfilling the Great Commission
of our Lord Jesus Christ outlined in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am
with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” We are
reaching the lost for Jesus Christ. We are baptizing new
believers. And we are discipling and training our members to
take the Gospel to our Jerusalem, Judea and the ends of the earth.
In order to enable our church to fulfill this mission to an even
greater extent, we are about to embark on a three-year spiritual
journey called Greater Works. In order to understand the
impact this journey will make in our ongoing ministry, it is
important to understand its goals:
- Prepare for the Balloon Payment on our
Mortgage. FBC currently has more than $2.65 million in debt,
and a monthly mortgage payment of $22,618! Our loan expires
on October 31, 2008, and we must either pay the full amount on
that day (roughly $2.4 million at that point) or refinance at the
prevailing interest rates. Thus, every dollar we are able to
reduce from our total debt before we refinance means thousands of
dollars saved in interest!
- Become Debt Free! Of course, our
end-goal is to be debt-free as soon as possible so we can use the
Lord’s money to expand our ministry and outreach instead of paying
off debt and interest to a bank.
How can I get involved?
As we begin this journey together, please pray and ask the Lord what He
would have you do to accomplish His purpose at Fellowship Baptist
Church. If you have questions along the way, please do not
hesitate to ask. This is a special time to serve the Lord at
Fellowship and we pray you will join us in this exciting spiritual
journey!
